Hosted by Rwanda, along with co-hosts: Eritrea, Ethiopia, Namibia, South Sudan, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Africa Centers for Disease Control, Medicines for Malaria Venture, RBM Partnership and the World Health Organization. This event serves as a clear and unequivocal acknowledgment of antimalarial resistance as a significant threat to malaria control efforts. It will convene countries currently experiencing or suspected to be experiencing artemisinin resistance, those projected to be at risk, other malaria-endemic nations, as well as funding and collaborative partners.
Discussions will focus on strengthening data collection and sharing mechanisms for antimalarial resistance across Africa, emphasising the timely utilisation of this data to inform policies, treatment strategies, and prevention measures. In alignment with the World Health Assembly's theme, the event aims to unite voices against antimalarial resistance and advocate for the accelerated development of new, accessible, affordable, and effective medicines.
This is an official WHA side event, pass by if you have an official WHA badge.
